Places to Bike in Michigan
Michigan is full of amazing trails and paths for biking, but here is a list of some of the most notable places you should check out:
- Mackinac Island. This famous Michigan Island prohibits the use of vehicles (outside of emergency vehicles), so you will be surrounded by other bikers and tons of horse-drawn carriages. The island has beautiful scenery and amazing views of Lake Huron and the Mackinac Bridge. The outer-loop of the island is 8.2 miles and a popular bike route.
- The Huron Sunrise Trail. This paved trail is 11.1 miles and in Rogers City. It is connected to Hoeft State Park, the 40 Mile Point lighthouse, and absolutely stunning views of Lake Huron.
- Little Traverse Wheelway. 26 miles of paved asphalt going from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs. This scenic bike path even has a museum, restrooms, and picnic tables to stop at while on your ride.
- DTE Energy Foundation Trail. This trail is over 20 miles long and even has elevation changes which are great for bikers that are looking for some added difficulty.The trail is in Chelsea and is surrounded by lots of nature.
- Fred Meyer White Pine Trail State Park.This is a linear state park totalling 92 miles. It goes from northern Grand Rapids to Cadillac.
